* The Ministry of Consumer Affairs is an independent agency within the Ministry of Economic Development
This is an ideal time for a senior policy professional to lead a number of projects and be involved in initiatives that will have a significant impact on consumer policy.
We are the government’s primary advisor on consumers interacting with business and our role is to promote markets that work for consumers and businesses, leading to more globally competitive firms and an environment in which consumers and businesses are able to transact with confidence. Confident, demanding consumers are critical to achieving a dynamic, competitive and innovative economy.
Our policy work involves the development of new legislation, regulatory reform and the single economic market with Australia. We are currently working on: * Consumer Law Reform - a review of 7 consumer laws * The Review of the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003 * The implementation of consumer dispute resolution in the finance sector.
For us to deliver quality outcomes, you’ll bring your sound policy background and experience. Your interpersonal skills will also be fully utilised in this role where you’ll be driving consultation processes and working closely with a range of stakeholders to deliver good outcomes for consumers.
We are offering an opportunity to join an energetic and fun team where the work is varied and interesting, with the ability to make a positive difference to consumers and businesses.
Part time applications are welcome.
Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday, 1 June 2010.
